The Beginning

I am Elessar Ringëril an elf and this is my story;

I was born in a wealthy family, my father was an elf general, he always teach me how to be the best warrior, but he never understand, that was not for me.
I never meet my mom, well technically I do, but I don’t remember it, she was devoured by an Uruk-Hai group when I was just a child. When I turn 100 years old my dad told me:

- You are ready for taking the EWT (Elvish Warrior Test). I already subscribe you on it; your test will be soon.

I never imagine that, this was going to be the beginning of my adventure and the last time I see my dad.
That night I escape from home, and from all my “perfect life” planed of course by my dad.
I only take 3 things that night. First one of my dad’s favorite book, that was full of maps and secrets that an Elf must know for survive on the Middle Earth. Then I grab my mom grandfather’s bow that was made completely of gold, and third a letter that my mom leave for me when I was a child, these letter have a map inside, I really don’t understand so much what it was written there because it was on a strange Elvish dialect that was unknown for me. I went out of my room and then out of my home, leaving there all my future, and going to the place that my heart tells me, the place where I will be completely happy helping others and making justice on an world that seems to be own only by rich ones.

I know that I will leave “my perfect life” and will not see my father for ever, but I had made an election and I will do it. My adventure began in “Far Chetwood”; in there I find goblins that were doing a fire. I know that does types of creatures will do me damage, that’s why I make a little camp out the forest.

I looked some maps that were on my dad’s book, and I knew where I wanted to go. The next day on the morning, I started to walk to the mountains. I wanted to go to the mountains because I never go there. My dad told me lots of stories about creatures that live in the mountains. I never see a creature from the mountain, that why I want to go there.

As the sun rise I started to walk , I passed through caves , tunnels ,it was getting late ,the moon was rising and I was tired but surprisingly in the way I found a group of Elvish mercenaries camping in the middle of nothing that were going to Mithlond so we made a deal. I would give them one of my maps to guide them through the road, if they give me shelter and food (I preferred saving my food for later), so they agreed, they told me that they were paid to capture and return a general son named Elessar Ringëril, so I told them that I didn’t knew him and then we sat on the campfire and started to tell stories of adventures and after the story I went to sleep.

The next day when I started walking I could manage to buy a horse from the mercenaries, and just when I was leaving my golden bow fell and the mercenaries realized that the bow had the name of my family so without a doubt they started pursuing me then the only thing I could do was spur my horse and ride fast to lose them, in the way I saw nets flying like hawks pursuing their prey.

But I couldn’t let them catch me; I had already reached the point of no return. I had to ride as fast as I could. But, where should I go. In that night fog my sight couldn’t get far away. The nets were flying and flying. They were just too many. It was also very strange, because I haven’t notice them in all the time I spent with the mercenaries. Suddenly an arrow flew near my face, so I realize what type of people they where. After that one, more and more came from the fog. Yes, I couldn’t even see the mercenaries aiming them at that time. And in a blink of eyes an arrow traveled throw the sky and impacted on my horse head.
Obviously I felt off my horse. And I felt near a cliff. I didn’t see anyone besides me; however I was able to hear their steps. And after that an elf came out from the fog, there he was running at the same time he was pulling out his sword from a scabbard. And when he was really near me, an axe came out from no where and killed the elf. I only had one last chance to get out of there.

Belgost

So I walked toward the cliff hoping to see a lake in the bottom. Luckily I was right; I was near Lake Hermsly, so I had one last chance: I had to jump…

When I opened my eyes, I found myself in complete darkness. I was not wet, so I guessed some time had passed since my reckless jump. With surprise, I discovered that I still had most of my things with me, but I’ve lost my precious golden bow. During those reflections, my eyes started to adapt to the darkness, so I found that in the front wall of my dark room was written: “Menegroth cave #17, city of Belegost”. The name of the city sounds me familiar, so I looked in my map. Near the lake was located a city called “Grandeburg”, and below was written in dwarvish runes “Belegost, the city of the thousand caves”. An axe, a dwarvish weapon, killed the elf near the cliff when I jumped; dwarves had recued me!

Soon I discovered why. Suddenly, a torch held by a tall and very long-beard dwarf lit the room. To be polite I presented myself:
-Good… morning? I am Elessar, son of Elesdar; I am very thankful to your people for having rescued me back there in the lake.
-I can understand… you elves are not used to live in this darkness, we are now in the afternoon - Told me the dwarf-. I am Croin, son of Crorrin, at your service. Did you know some about the elves that were killed by my axe?
-Well… they were mercenaries. They were supposed to give me shelter if I guided them to Mithlond. Curiously they were looking for me, so I ran from them; during the persecution I lost my golden bow. Do you know why they were looking for me?

- So you are the great general’s son, of course I know why they were looking for you. Your father has made almost every elf to look after you. I am sorry but I will have to turn you in.
- Why what are you talking about?
- Well you should know that elves and dwarves don’t get along very well and if they found out that you are staying here our problems will get bigger.

I can’t let this happen- I thought, I need to get out of here. So when the dwarf left the room I take weapons, some food and escaped again.

When I was on my way out I saw a spark, it was my golden bow, I have to get it back but there was a problem… a dwarf was sitting right next to it. I wait some time until my patience run out but an idea came to my mind, I throw a rock and the dwarf run to the place were the sound was coming. This was the moment to get, but when I had it in my hands I fell into a big hole in the ground. It was a big fall, I was like 2 floors above from were I was standing.

So here I was all alone in the city of the thousands caves unable to see anything with just two small axes and a bow.

Again, I was captured by the dwarves. This time, there were two dwarves looking at me. The dwarves take my bow and the small axes, and they where near to the dwarves that was at five meters of me. I do not have any more ideas, so I wait. Ten minutes later, a third dwarf appear, it was Croin.

-The king Maledous has just told me that you two can go to rest, while I take care of him - said Croin.
The two dwarves, without asking why, go. I was upset, until something really rare happen.
-Hey little elf - said Croin referring to me -do you want to escape?
-Yes. sure.-I said, thinking that he was joking with me.
-Ok, this is the plan, we will go through many dwarf, you will act like if you where going to be killed.
-Ok, but, can I ask you something? Why are you helping me?-I said, still thinking that he was joking.
-I am helping you with one condition, if I can go with you- said Croin.
-Ok, you can come with me, but the problem is that I don’t know where to go…- I start thinking that it was not a joke.
-You are going in an adventure, and that is exactly what I want, we will go looking for something to do. But first we need to escape.-said Croin.

I can’t trust in Croin,-I thought-but I can try to.

Croin said me that I need to be quiet and be always behind him. Sometimes Croin will kick me and I needed to scream. Before we start going to the exit, I take my golden bow and the two small axes, and I put it behind my fur coat. In the way to the exit I was looking always to the floor, and I hear a lot of dwarf voices. Some dwarves were throwing things to me, like food or trash and laughing. Before we go away, we go to get some food.

The Escape to Rohan

In one moment, I start thinking that Croin was going to betray me, but then when we went outside the caves I start trusting in him.

Finally we escape. But something that I couldn’t understand is why Croin wanted to escape? Could be a trap? I was beginning to ask myself if I really could trust Croin.
And that’s why I decided to ask him. –Why you wanted to escape of Belegost? - I said
- I’m not really running away, because I am going to deliver you to the elves that want to capture you- said Croin
Elessar began to scare
-No it was a joke – said Croin seeing the face of Elessar.
-But really, why do you wanted to escape?-I said
- Really it is a long story-said Croin
- There is no problem tell me- I said
- Because I was tired of being trapped in caves by darkness, the city was suffocating and bored, treating badly the elves that we captured. I was feeling that I wanted to have a new life without dwarfs who forced me, also my dad’s left me when I was child, I also didn’t like to live alone and in this city. I never had friends, so that’s why I decided to escape to have a new way of life. Also I liked the adventure. - Said Croin
- Your story is very fun. We have escaped of our cities to go to an adventure. But you know where we can go? - I said

-Yeah. We can go to the empire of Rohan. I have been told from many different elves that Rohan is a place where we can eat and be comfortable for a while. - I said
-Ah, yes, Rohan. But that’s not a Human empire?-said Croin
-Yes, but I think they are going to be nice with us. Human’s hospitality has been recognized for centuries by elves.
Rohan is not too far from here. - I said
-We need to buy new provisions- said Croin
-But with what money?-I said
-Oh, I forgot to tell you that I brought some money for us. Night was getting closer and the roads to Rohan aren’t very safe, especially at night, so lets get going-said Croin
By the way I am very sorry about your golden bow. In Rohan I will try to get you a new bow.-said Croin
-Thanks.-I said.
We were near to Rohan. I was really tired and the only thing I wanted to do was sleep. After a while walking I noticed a lot of sound and laughs coming from a tiny light very far ahead. We
had finally reached Rohan

Rohan was a huge empire. There were many houses and palaces. There were many people walking through the streets. We were waiting for a good person that may have mercy with us. We needed a place where to eat and sleep.

Finally, a good person appeared. It was a giant called Bert. He told us if we need any help. We told we needed a place where to pass the night. He offered us to go to his house. His home was enormous and very clean. He cooked the supper for us. We were so hungry that we finished the food in less than five minutes. Then, Bert showed us our rooms. We slept very comfortable there and we awoke at 9am. The next day, Croin told me to leave the giant’s house to find a place where he can buy me a new bow. We thank Bert and we left the house.

When we left Bert’s house we looked for weapon trader to help us look for a good bow. We found one near the southern gate of the city; we entered to his shop looking for a good human bow. When I looked at the shop I found lots of bows but there wasn’t anyone like mine. Then I asked the trader:

- Do you have any Elvish bow?- I asked

- Follow me.

He takes us to a little room full of weird stuff. Then in the room’s bottom there was it, my precious golden bow I have found it.

- How much for the golden bow?- I asked

- 5000 gold coins. - answered the trader.

- I will pay it! – responded Croin to the price.

Croin give him a big bag full of gold. We left the place with my golden bow and an axe with some dwarvish runes. Croin have bought it because it belonged to his dad. It had the inscriptions “Crorrin Badsapper”.

We walked out of the store and started walking peacefully through Rohan’s street. We found it amazing that in a city could be found an increasingly size of population, but not only humans, but also elves, dwarves, giants and talking trees who talked to whoever passed by them. Everyone got along so well that a felt bad for Croin’s city as well as mine, who had fought for so long and still fight for useless things.

But this fascination lasted for a little while, because we heard a shout from behind and when we looked back we were facing the group of mercenaries that were looking for me as well as a group of dwarves that Croin recognized from his city as being the “Royal army”, who where the king’s guards, the most dangerous and unmerciful of all. We stared at each other for a blink of a second, because we already knew what we had to do. The street was overcrowded so it would be easy to run and get lost, but we were trying to escape the most dangerous creatures in all the Middle Earth, although we had to try, there wasn’t another choice.

Croin took his axe out and I took my golden bow. I closely looked at one of the dwarves, took an arrow from my quiver and shot at the little dwarf. The arrow went straight through his head. The mercenaries and the rest of the dwarves quickly glanced at the falling guard and turned their look at us. They started to charge at us. Then the fight had begun. Croin quickly killed some mercenaries, showing great skill with his axe, while I took my own sword out and joined Croin. The peaceful main street soon turned bloody and lots of men were running on all directions out of the street. I was having a lot of trouble trying to take down some dwarves and one mercenary, which I could remember from that morning at the mountains. We were doing a nice job fighting dwarves and elf mercenaries at the same time, when a dwarf hit me with his giant golden axe and broke my sword. I had no weapon but a short sword I had with me since I escaped from home. I started to fight back, when I turned my look back to Croin I was astonished. Croin had a sword on his stomach. I immediately cut a mercenary’s head but I was grabbed by the other guys. Suddenly, I saw some dwarves and some elves on the floor at least ten feet away. I then saw a giant club smashing a tall dwarf, it was Bert.
